The Riverside Warriors put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They strolled past Mauldin with points to spare, taking the game 70-55. Given Riverside's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 12th, while Mauldin is ranked 74th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Despite the loss, Mauldin saw an underclassman step up: Nathan Wilbourne scored 14 points along with seven rebounds. Wilbourne set a new season high mark in rebounds with seven. The team also got some help courtesy of Braden Hershberger, who scored ten points.
Riverside's victory bumped their record up to 7-0. As for Mauldin, they bumped their record down to 3-4 with that defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.
Riverside won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Dorman at 3:30 p.m. on December 9th. Dorman will be coming into the game with an undefeated record on the line. As for Mauldin, they will head out on the road to face off against Wade Hampton at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Wade Hampton is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.
