The St. Martin de Porres Lions were the 55-54 winner over Grand River Academy when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. St. Martin de Porres took a 66-50 bruising from the on Tuesday. It was the first time this season that St. Martin de Porres let down their fans at home.
Grand River Academy was led to victory by Joseph Quartey and Filip Runjo. Quartey scored 12 points along with seven assists and six steals, while Runjo scored 21 points along with eight rebounds and three blocks. Giorgi Nikolaevi was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with two steals.
St. Martin de Porres' loss ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 6-5. As for Grand River Academy, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 8-0.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Martin de Porres will square off against the Blue Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Grand River Academy is on the road again on Saturday and plays the Trojans at 11:00 a.m. on February 3rd. McDowell has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 603 points over their last nine matchups.
