Basketball Recap: Centerville Beats Broaddus for Their Third Straight Victory

Centerville entered their tilt with Broaddus on Friday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They enjoyed a cozy 65-49 victory over the Broaddus Bulldogs. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 75-56 back in December of 2024.

Centerville's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jake Slaten led the charge by dropping a double-double on 32 points and 18 rebounds. Slaten is crushing it when it comes to boards: he's pulled down at least nine every time he's taken the court this season. Kolt Larsen was another key player, going 6 of 12 on his way to 19 points along with eight assists and three steals.

Despite the loss, Broaddus still got an impressive performance from Kingston Sanders, who went 6 for 13 en route to 13 points in addition to six rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Trenton Sowell, who went 5 of 12 on his way to 13 points.

Centerville is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 22-4 record this season. As for Broaddus, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 20-9.

Centerville will square off against Zavalla at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Centerville is facing Zavalla at the right time seeing as Zavalla is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Broaddus, they will take on Martinsville at 8:30 p.m. on January 31st.
