This season hasn't been kind to the Poudre Community Academy Warriors, who are still winless after their fourth game. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 58-33 walloping at the hands of Golden View Classical Academy on Monday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Poudre Community Academy of the 55-13 defeat they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2023.
Despite the loss, Poudre Community Academy still got an impressive performance from Joslyn Schaeffer, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 29 rebounds. That was a full 51.5% of Poudre Community Academy's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ash Beck, who scored two points along with 12 rebounds and three steals.
Even though they lost, Poudre Community Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 25 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Poudre Community Academy's loss was their fifth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 0-4. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 20.6 points per game. As for Golden View Classical Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 5-5 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Poudre Community Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Two Roads Charter School at 5:30 p.m. on February 5th. As for Golden View Classical Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Twin Peaks Charter Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
