Dorman is 9-1 against Spartanburg since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Cavaliers will face off against the Vikings at 7:30 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
While Dorman's victory against Boiling Springs wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Cavaliers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 win over the Bulldogs on Wednesday. The victory continues a trend for the Cavaliers in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won six in a row.
The team relied heavily on Leah Taylor, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Emerson McLane, who went 3-for-4 with one triple and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Spartanburg was able to grind out a solid win over Wade Hampton on Wednesday, taking the game 13-8.
Spartanburg let Madi House and Carlee Richards run wild. House went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs, while Richards went 4-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI Richards has posted since back in March. Olivia Lister was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
Spartanburg lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Dorman's victory bumped their record up to 11-7-1. As for Spartanburg, the win got them back to even at 6-6.
Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Dorman hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .340. However, it's not like Spartanburg struggles in that department as they've averaged .406. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Dorman was able to grind out a solid victory over Spartanburg when the teams last played back in March, winning 6-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cavaliers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
