Baseball Recap: Leland's Run of Five Straight Victories Now Over

After flying high against Leflore County last Monday, Leland came back down to earth. Leland fell 13-10 to the Shaw Warriors on Tuesday. The Cubs' defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Kevandre Rawls was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-4. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Sylvester Ross, who scored a run and stole three bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Leland's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 5-4.

Coming up, Leland will challenge Edwards at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Shaw, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Leland at 4:00 p.m. on April 11.
