Nation Ford and Northwestern are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2018, but not for long. The Nation Ford Falcons will be playing at home against the Northwestern Trojans at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the pair posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Friday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Nation Ford beat South Pointe 60-56. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Nation Ford.
Nation Ford had a senior duo take command as Jackson Burnham scored 28 points along with 5 rebounds and Caden Giles scored 8 points along with 17 rebounds and 7 blocks. That makes it two consecutive games in which Burnham has scored at least 25% of Nation Ford's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ben Chuttey, who scored 6 points.
Meanwhile, Northwestern had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 64-50 win over South Florence.
Northwestern's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaylan Moore, who scored 15 points along with 5 rebounds. Sir Joseph was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with 3 steals.
Nation Ford's win bumped their season record to 2-0 while South Pointe's defeat dropped theirs to 1-3.
Nation Ford beat Northwestern 70-59 in their previous meeting back in January. Does Nation Ford have another victory up their sleeve, or will Northwestern turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
