The Wesclin Warriors's five-game losing streak came to an end on Thursday. They managed a 50-44 victory over Gibault Catholic. The victory was just what Wesclin needed coming off of a 54-24 defeat in their prior matchup.
Gibault Catholic's loss came despite strong showings from Briana Baldridge and Kamille Grohmann. Baldridge scored 15 points, while Grohmann scored 12 points.
Wesclin's win ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-9. As for Gibault Catholic, they bumped their record down to 4-8 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wesclin will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Maryville Christian at 6:00 p.m. on January 4, 2024. Gibault Catholic will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Roxana at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Roxana presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Gibault Catholic in Illinois (Roxana is ranked 268th, while Gibault Catholic is ranked 582nd).
