In what's become a running theme this season, the Canyon Springs Cougars gave their fans yet another huge victory on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Vista del Lago with a sharp 83-58 win. The victory was familiar territory for Canyon Springs who now have three in a row.
Canyon Springs' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Derek Williams, who scored 25 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Williams has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Vann, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds.
Canyon Springs pushed their record up to 14-9 with that win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.0 points per game. As for Vista del Lago, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-9.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Canyon Springs will challenge Paloma Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Paloma Valley knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four games -- so hopefully Canyon Springs likes a good challenge. Vista del Lago won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Moreno Valley at 7:00 p.m. on January 18th.
