Norfolk was led to victory by Braylon Owens and Ethan Synovec. Owens dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds, while Synovec almost dropped a double-double on 20 points and nine rebounds. It was the first time this season that Synovec scored 15 or more points. Chase Swanson was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with three steals.
Buena Vista's defeat was their 19th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-16. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 27.2 points per game. As for Norfolk, their win bumped their record up to 6-12.
