It was a good run, but the Burke County Bears unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Wednesday. They were dealt a 76-38 defeat at the hands of Butler. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Burke County has scored all season.
Despite the loss, Burke County still got an impressive performance from Bryce Wimberly, who scored 15 points. Wimberly scored a full 39.5% of Burke County's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Burke County's loss dropped their record down to 8-2. As for Butler, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-2.
Burke County's road trip will continue as they head out to face Midland Valley at 12:00 p.m. on December 28, 2023. Midland Valley has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 21. Butler won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Hapeville Charter at 5:00 p.m. on December 28, 2023. Hapeville Charter is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 61.5 points per game.
