The East Laurens Falcons have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three games by 30 points or more this season. They blew past Johnson County 66-36 on the road. Given East Laurens' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 159th, while Johnson County is ranked 356th), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.
East Laurens' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Deanna Lowther led the charge by dropping a double-double on 14 points and 20 rebounds. Another player making a difference was McKayela Tanner, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
East Laurens now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Johnson County, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.
East Laurens will be home for the holidays to greet Swainsboro at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Johnson County, they will head out on the road to face off against Metter at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday.
