The Brunswick Pirates will be playing at home against the Evans Knights at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Brunswick's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last three matchups.
Brunswick can now show off four landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 38-14 margin over South Effingham. That's two games straight that Brunswick has won by exactly 24 points.
Brunswick got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jamarious Towns out in front who rushed for 162 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries. Grant Moore was another key contributor, throwing for 234 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 10.6 yards per attempt.
Another reason for the win was Brunswick's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. South Effingham's QB won't forget Devin Smith anytime soon given Smith sacked him four times.
Meanwhile, Evans scored first but ultimately less than Glynn Academy in their contest on Friday. They fell 22-14 to the Terrors. While losing is never fun, Evans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 227th, while Glynn Academy is ranked 105th).
The losing side was boosted by Rayshaun King, who rushed for 117 yards and a touchdown.
Brunswick's victory was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 5-2. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 30 points. As for Evans, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-5.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's match: Brunswick has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 233 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Evans struggles in that department as they've been averaging 191.8 per game. It's looking like Friday's contest might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Brunswick took their win against Evans when the teams last played back in October of 2022 by a conclusive 28-7. Will Brunswick repeat their success, or does Evans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
