North Clay/Clay City will head out on the road to square off against the Robinson Maroons at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. North Clay/Clay City will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings (they are ranked 436th, while the Maroons are ranked 95th).
On Saturday, North Clay/Clay City didn't have too much trouble with the Indians on the road as they won 46-31. The win made it back-to-back wins for North Clay/Clay City.
Meanwhile, Robinson strolled past the Lions with points to spare on Thursday, taking the game 55-38.
Robinson can attribute much of their success to Elizabeth Shea, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds and two steals, and Marisa Zane, who scored 14 points along with seven assists and six steals. Alexia Zane was another key contributor, scoring six points along with five rebounds.
North Clay/Clay City's victory ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-16. As for Robinson, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 22-5 record this season.
North Clay/Clay City was able to grind out a solid win over the Maroons when the teams last played back in February of 2023, winning 65-55. The rematch might be a little tougher for North Clay/Clay City since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
