The Caprock Academy Eagles lost against the Vail Mountain Gore Rangers back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Caprock Academy took a 42-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of Vail Mountain.
Caprock Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Reed Struwe, who scored six points along with 11 rebounds and two blocks. Alex Spinu was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Caprock Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Vail Mountain, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Caprock Academy won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Vail Christian at 7:30 p.m. on January 12th. Hopefully Vail Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 last Tuesday. As for Vail Mountain, they will head out on the road to square off against Middle Park at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Middle Park has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 260 points over their last four contests.
