Baseball Recap: Palisade Finds Playoff Glory Versus Severance

With a playoff win on the line, Palisade rose to the challenge on Saturday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Severance Silver Knights a 14-0 shutout. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 games by six runs or more this season.

Jacob Porras and Danyel Ishida-Farmer dominated on the mound. Porras tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits, while Ishida-Farmer pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Porras has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Palisade let Hunter Howard and Tobyn Trottier run wild. Howard went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Trottier went 1-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs Trottier has posted since back in April. Dylon Larson was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Palisade always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .656. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Palisade is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-9 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Severance, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 19-8.

As of now, neither Palisade nor the Silver Knights have any future games scheduled.
