The Shelby Golden Lions's game last Friday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 48-33 victory over Burns. That's another feather in the cap for Shelby, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Shelby got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Sydnie Enste out in front who scored six points along with 12 rebounds and five steals. Enste is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last ten games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamiah Hopper, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 18 rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Burns lost, one person who can't be blamed is Kaylee Greene. Despite the final result, she scored 21 points along with four steals. Greene hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. Maggie Earl was another key contributor, scoring six points along with 12 rebounds and five steals.
Shelby has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 6-10 record this season. As for Burns, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-10.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Shelby will square off against the Ironmen at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cherryville is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak. As for Burns, they will head out on the road to take on the Rams at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Highland Tech focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up seven on Friday.
