The Sebastian River Sharks are taking a road trip to take on the Jensen Beach Falcons at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Sebastian River beat Treasure Coast 44-34. The Sharks pushed the score to 38-17 by the end of the third, a deficit the Titans cut but never quite recovered from.
Sebastian River's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but E'Mani Pryor led the charge by going 5 for 9 on her way to 11 points and seven boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Samiya Adams, who posted four points and four steals.
Meanwhile, Jensen Beach entered their tilt with Bayside on Friday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. They managed a 47-42 victory over the Bears.
Sebastian River better focus on containing Jayla Brinkley and Danielle Bell as the pair were huge in Jensen Beach's win. Brinkley almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds, while Bell went 5 of 10 en route to 17 points and six boards. The dominant performance gave Brinkley a new career-high in points.
Jensen Beach smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in nine consecutive games.
Jensen Beach pushed their record up to 13-4 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.0 points per game. As for Sebastian River, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-4.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Sebastian River has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 27.9 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Jensen Beach struggles in that department as they've been averaging 30.2 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Sebastian River didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Jensen Beach when the teams last played back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 52-47 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Sebastian River since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
