Baseball Recap: Manheim Central Makes It Three in a Row at Home

For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last four times Manheim Central and Donegal have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Wednesday. The Barons walked away with a 5-2 victory over the Indians. This was payback for the Barons, who suffered a 6-1 loss the last time these two teams met.

Kyle Mylin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on four hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Manheim Central is 5-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 2-3 otherwise.

At the plate, Manheim Central's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Brody Groff, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Manheim Central's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-4. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Donegal, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 6-6.

Coming up, Manheim Central will square off against Palmyra at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. The Cougars will roll in looking for their 13th straight victory, something the Barons surely won't give up without a fight. As for Donegal, they will face off against Eastern Lebanon County at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday.
