The Minneapolis Southwest Lakers waltzed into their matchup Friday with four straight wins but they left with five. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Rockford 63-34 at home. 63 seems to be a good number for Minneapolis Southwest as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
Despite the loss, Rockford still got an impressive performance from Evelyn Engebretson, who scored 21 points. That's the first time this season that Engebretson scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sienna Thomas, who scored six points.
Minneapolis Southwest's win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.3 points per game. As for Rockford, they now have a losing record at 4-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Minneapolis Southwest will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Roosevelt at 7:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Rockford will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on New London-Spicer at 7:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
