Even though the Fayette County Tigers scored an imposing 56 points on Monday, the Oakman Wildcats still came out on top. Oakman took their contest against Fayette County 63-56. Given Oakman's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 109th, while Fayette County is ranked 242nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Rick Johnson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 27 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Trenton Warren, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds.
Oakman is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-2 record this season. As for Fayette County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-11.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Oakman's road trip will continue as they head out to face Meek at 6:00 p.m. on January 25th. As for Fayette County, they will square off against Carbon Hill at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Carbon Hill will be looking to keep their eight-game home win streak alive.
