The Prospect Ridge Academy Miners suffered their biggest loss since December 1, 2023 on Thursday. They were beaten by Kent Denver 57-22. While losing is never fun, Prospect Ridge Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 268th, while Kent Denver is ranked 59th).
Despite the defeat, Prospect Ridge Academy saw an underclassman step up: Amelia Waggoner scored eight points along with seven rebounds.
Anya Peper was her usual excellent self, scoring 25 points along with nine rebounds and six steals for Kent Denver. The team also got some help courtesy of Caroline Phillips, who scored 17 points along with two steals.
Prospect Ridge Academy's loss dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Kent Denver, their victory bumped their record up to 10-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Prospect Ridge Academy will take on Peak to Peak at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Peak to Peak focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Monday. As for Kent Denver, they will be playing at home against The Academy at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. The Academy is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
