The Potts Camp Cardinals had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. Everything went their way against Bruce as Potts Camp made off with a 100-80 victory. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Bruce's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ashton Pierce, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 10 rebounds. Kobe Hooper was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with 5 rebounds.
Potts Camp's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Bruce, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Potts Camp will face off against Rossville Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Rossville Christian Academy presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Potts Camp in their respective states (Rossville Christian Academy is ranked 16th in Tennessee, while Potts Camp is ranked 152nd in Mississippi). As for Bruce, they will head out on the road to face off against Vardaman at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
