On Saturday, the Notre Dame Academy Pandas faced the Russell Red Devils in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Notre Dame Academy came out on top in a nail-biter against Russell and snuck past 54-51. The win was familiar territory for Notre Dame Academy who now have three in a row.
Despite the loss, Russell still got an impressive performance from Shaelyn Steele, who scored 28 points along with seven rebounds. The game was Steele's 14th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Bella Quinn, who scored eight points.
Notre Dame Academy's victory bumped their record up to 11-2. As for Russell, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Notre Dame Academy will take on Simon Kenton at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Kentucky (Simon Kenton is ranked 20th, while Notre Dame Academy is ranked 13th). As for Russell, they will be playing at home against East Carter at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. East Carter is looking to tack on another W to their five-game streak on the road.
