Wallace-Rose Hill managed a 20-14 win over East Duplin on Friday. This was payback for Wallace-Rose Hill, who suffered a 28-26 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Wallace-Rose Hill found their leader in underclassman Jamarae Lamb, who rushed for 151 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.9 yards per carry. Lamb was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 60 yards. Irving Brown was another key contributor, rushing for 65 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries.
Despite the loss, East Duplin still got an impressive performance from Zach Brown, who rushed for 77 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries.
Wallace-Rose Hill's victory was their sixth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 6-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.8 points per game. As for East Duplin, their loss ended a 21-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 8-1.
Wallace-Rose Hill will head out on the road to face off against James Kenan at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for East Duplin, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Southwest Onslow at 7:00 p.m. Southwest Onslow has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 188 points over their last four games.
