The Benbrook Bobcats lost against the Godley Wildcats back in November of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Benbrook fell just short of Godley by a score of 31-28. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Benbrook in their matchups with Godley: they've now lost four in a row.
Despite the defeat, Benbrook saw an underclassman step up: Brennan Barton threw for 254 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 11.5 yards per attempt. Another player making a difference was Kade Cross, who picked up 115 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Godley found their leader in underclassman Adam Pempsell, who rushed for 153 yards and three touchdowns. Pempsell hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Wyatt Burke, who rushed for 86 yards.
Benbrook's defeat dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Godley, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-5.
Benbrook will take on Hirschi at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Godley, they will square off against Sweetwater at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
