Softball Recap: Mansfield Summit Has No Trouble Against Western Hills

Mansfield Summit was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against Western Hills on Friday. Everything went the Mansfield Summit Jaguars' way against the Western Hills Cougars as the Mansfield Summit Jaguars made off with a 17-4 win. Considering the Jaguars have won four contests by more than eight runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Aliveya Sullivan was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up four earned runs off five hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was even better at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing Three bases. while going 3-for-5. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February of 2024.

In other batting news, Alicia Alvarez was excellent, scoring a run while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Mansfield Summit always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .605. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Western Hills only posted an OBP of .435.

The victory snapped Mansfield Summit's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 4-3 record. As for Western Hills, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mansfield Summit will face off against Centennial at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Centennial's pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so Mansfield Summit's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Western Hills, it'll be Eastside v. Westside when they and Eastern Hills meet at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
