St. Croix Central is 8-2 against Amery since April of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Panthers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Warriors at 5:00 p.m. Amery took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on St. Croix Central, who comes in off a win.
St. Croix Central is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over Unity on Saturday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Panthers considering their one-run performance the game before.
Blake Host looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits.
At the plate, Brett Graese was a standout: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. What's more, he posted two hits, the most he's had since back in April. Eli Babler was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
St. Croix Central hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Unity struck out seven times.
Meanwhile, Amery didn't have quite enough to beat Luck/Frederic on Monday and fell 5-4.
Peter Markee was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one double. Amery is 4-1 when Markee posts two or more runs, but 5-9 otherwise.
St. Croix Central's win bumped their record up to 8-6. As for Amery, they now have a losing record of 9-10.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. St. Croix Central has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Amery struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
St. Croix Central came out on top in a nail-biter against Amery in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, sneaking past 3-1. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Warriors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
