Dodgeville is 9-1 against Lancaster since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Dodgers will venture away from home to face off against the Flying Arrows at 5:00 p.m. Dodgeville's pitching crew has only allowed 2.1 runs per game this season, so Lancaster's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Dodgeville took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-0 win over Cuba City. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Dodgers have posted against the Cubans since April 8, 2019.
The team relied heavily on Nathan Johnson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Jack Graber, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, Lancaster fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Prairie du Chien on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Blackhawks by a score of 11-10. That's two games in a row now that the Flying Arrows have lost by just one run.
Shea Luckey was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Those RBI marked the first that he has brought in this season. John Clements was another key player, going 2-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.
Lancaster is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games. As for Dodgeville, they pushed their record up to 7-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home.
Dodgeville was able to grind out a solid victory over Lancaster in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, winning 4-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Dodgers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
