The Mount Vernon Patriots had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They blew past Dugway 69-32 at home. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 44-22.
Andrew McMurdie continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 20 points and 14 rebounds. Gabe Jackson was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with two steals and two blocks.
Dugway lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Tanner Thackeray, who scored 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Hazen Bullcreek, who scored 11 points.
Mount Vernon's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-10. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.7 points per game. As for Dugway, their loss dropped their record down to 1-10.
Coincidentally, Mount Vernon and Dugway will both be playing Telos the next time they take the court. Dugway will head out to face Telos at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, while Mount Vernon will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
