The Hillcrest Huskies fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against the Jordan Beetdiggers on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Beetdiggers by a score of 55-52. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Hillcrest of the 52-50 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January.
When it comes to explaining why Hillcrest lost, one person who can't be blamed is Isaac Miller. Despite the final result, he scored 15 points along with eight rebounds. It was the first time this season that Miller scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Rhett Robinson, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds.
Jordan's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Preston Cheney, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds. Ayden Doyle was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with four blocks.
Hillcrest has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-11 record this season. As for Jordan, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-11.
Hillcrest will head out on the road to challenge Cottonwood at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Cottonwood will roll in looking for their 11th straight win, something Hillcrest surely won't give up without a fight. As for Jordan, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Stansbury at 7:00 p.m. Stansbury is coming into the game with seven straight wins on the road, so Jordan is out to stop a team with plenty of momentum.
