Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Chalker, who bounced back after a loss on the road back in April. They had just enough and edged out Lordstown 9-8 on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Wildcats have posted since May 4, 2024.
Ryan Herdman was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single hit and allowed only two earned runs while striking out 11 over 4.1 innings pitched. Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That double marked the first that he has hit this season.
In other batting news, Zach Pack and Daniel Kellar did most of the damage at the plate: Pack went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI, while Kellar went a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Pack is becoming a predictor of Chalker's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 0-6 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Bobby Prowitt, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Chalker always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .594. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Bristol took their win against Chalker in their previous matchup back in April by a conclusive 7-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
