Even though the Kenwood Broncos have not done well against the Simeon Wolverines recently (they were 1-7 in their previous eight matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Kenwood took down Simeon 61-42. Given Kenwood's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 25th, while Simeon is ranked 135th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Kenwood's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Edwon Duling, who scored 15 points. That's the first time this season that Duling scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Jaden Smith, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 13 rebounds.
Kenwood has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. As for Simeon, their loss dropped their record down to 7-9.
Kenwood will head out on the road to face off against Curie at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Curie will be looking to extend their current 12-game winning streak. As for Simeon, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Hyde Park at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hyde Park has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 193 points over their last three games.
