Jackson dropped down to 13-11 on Thursday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell 10-7 to the Leroy Bears. The Aggies were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bears apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2025.
Zoey Rooks put in work while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing six innings while giving up just two earned (and eight unearned) runs off nine hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Kendal Young made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Kristen Yeager, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.
As for Leroy, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games.
Like Jackson, Leroy also got a great game from a two-way player: Liz Baugh. On the mound, she tossed seven innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off eight hits. Baugh was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Hannah Howard, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple was her first of the season. Cadence Walters was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Jackson and Leroy should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings. The Aggies (ranked 171st) will meet Escambia County (ranked 387th) at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Leroy will take on McIntosh at 4:00 p.m. on Monday with a big rank advantage (84 vs. 397).
