The Como Park Cougars will head out on the road to challenge the North Polars at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Como Park has three straight wins, North has eight straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Como Park's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They put the hurt on Harding with a sharp 18-0 victory. That 18 run margin sets a new team best for the Cougars this season.

Brendan Avant was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. Avant was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base. Como Park is undefeated when Avant posts two or more runs, but 2-5 otherwise.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Daniel Silverio, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Eli Savolainen, who went 2-for-5 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
Como Park always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .585. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .568 or higher in three consecutive contests.
New Richmond hit North with a four-run fourth inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Polars came up short against the Tigers, falling 10-0.
North's loss dropped their record down to 1-11. As for Como Park, the win got them back to even at 5-5.
North's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Como Park has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .459. It's a different story for North, though, as they've only averaged .342. Will they be able to contain Como Park's hitters?
Como Park might still be hurting after the 15-0 defeat they got from North in their previous meeting back in May of 2023. Can the Cougars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
