Huntington came up short against Piketon on Wednesday, falling 24-7. The defeat continues a trend for the Huntsmen in their meetings with the Redstreaks: they've now lost four in a row.
Allie Baker and Savannah Bushatz did some serious damage despite the final result: Baker scored two runs while going 1-for-2, while Bushatz scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
Meanwhile, Northwest came tearing into Wednesday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Eagles a 14-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Mohawks, who have now won eight contests by eight runs or more so far this season.
Kamryn Journey and Annika Carpenter made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Journey pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
