Northside has gone a perfect 4-0 against Cordova recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Rams will be taking part in a tournament against the Blue Devils at 2:30 p.m. Northside's pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so Cordova's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Northside is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering American Christian Academy just ended the team's six-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Patriots by a score of 11-9. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Rams, who until this contest were averaging 2.92 runs allowed.
Meanwhile, Cordova fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Carbon Hill on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 10-9. That's two games in a row now that the Blue Devils have lost by just one run.
Khloe Herron put in work no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.
In other batting news, Chloe Kacharos and Mia Vance stepped up to the plate in a big way. Kacharos went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI, while Vance went 3-for-5 with four stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Vance is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Sara Beth Jackson was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
Northside's defeat dropped their record down to 7-4-1. As for Cordova, they now have a losing record of 3-4.
Friday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Northside hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .317. However, it's not like Cordova struggles in that department as they've averaged .324. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Northside's way against Cordova in their previous meeting back in March of 2025, as Northside made off with an 11-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rams since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
