The Laguna Creek Cardinals will head out to challenge the Oak Ridge Trojans at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Oak Ridge took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Laguna Creek, who comes in off a win.
Laguna Creek will bounce into Tuesday's matchup after beating Cosumnes Oaks, who they had gone 0-5 against in their five prior meetings. The Cardinals blew past the Wolfpack 3-0 on Tuesday.
Laguna Creek never let Cosumnes Oaks on the board, but things got pretty close in the third set. The final score came out to 25-18, 25-20, 26-24.
Meanwhile, Oak Ridge didn't have quite enough to beat Folsom on Wednesday and fell 3-2. The Trojans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.
Oak Ridge started the match hot and won the first two sets, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-28, 16-25, 25-22, 25-15, 15-10.
Laguna Creek will have to keep a close watch on Londyn Welcher and Sheanna Peralta, a pair of players who had a big impact on Oak Ridge's prior game. Welcher had 15 digs and two aces, while Peralta had eight digs and two assists. Welcher has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more digs the last four times she's played.
Oak Ridge's defeat dropped their record down to 20-12. As for Laguna Creek, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-10 record this season.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Tuesday's contest: Laguna Creek hasn't let much over the net this season, having averaged 9.5 blocks per game. It's a different story for Oak Ridge, though, as they've been averaging an even more impressive 1.1 blocks.
