While it was all tied up 16-16 at halftime, the Cherry Hill East Cougars were not quite the Middle Township Panthers's equal in the second half on Sunday. They took a 35-25 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Panthers. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Cherry Hill East has scored all season.
Middle Township found their leader in underclassman Reagen Powell, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Hannah Cappelletti, who scored nine points.
Cherry Hill East has not been sharp recently as the team's lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season. As for Middle Township, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cherry Hill East will take on Medford Tech at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Cherry Hill East is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Medford Tech in New Jersey (Cherry Hill East is ranked 143rd, while Medford Tech is ranked 356th). As for Middle Township, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Atlantic City at 5:00 p.m. Atlantic City is coming into the contest with six straight victories on the road, meaning Middle Township will have to defend against a team hungry for a victory.
