Royal gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Cashmere Bulldogs with a sharp 16-5 victory. Winning may never get old, but the Knights sure are getting used to it with their eighth in a row dating back to last season.
Jill Allred was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed five innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. Allred was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with five runs, one triple, and one RBI. Those five runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Lily Delarosa was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with six RBI, three runs, and two doubles. Audrey Bergeson was another key player, scoring three runs while going 3-for-4.
Royal will have a chance to go back-to-back against Cashmere: the pair will be back at it again later today.
