Massabesic and Kennebunk are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2018, but likely not for long. The Mustangs will head out on the road to challenge the Rams at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Kennebunk took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Massabesic, who comes in off a win.
Massabesic took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 13-5 margin over Noble. The high-scoring effort was just what the Mustangs needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.
Madison Proctor spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up ten Ks.
On the hitting side, Devenny Brickett was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double. That run was her first of the season. Ella Gerrish was another key player, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
Kennebunk had taken Scarborough down for three straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Wednesday. The Rams lost 14-3 to the Red Storm.
Paige Williams made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run. Another player making a difference was Evelyne Roper, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Kennebunk now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Massabesic, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Massabesic has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Kennebunk struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
