Arcadia/Loup City is 0-10 against Doniphan-Trumbull since February of 2017 but things could change on Friday. The Arcadia/Loup City Rebels will welcome the Doniphan-Trumbull Cardinals at 7:15 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
Arcadia/Loup City is headed into Friday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Friday. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 46-40 heartbreaker at the hands of Centura.
Despite the loss, Arcadia/Loup City saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Eli Jaixen posted 17 points. Another player making a difference was Max Lewandowski, who earned six points and 11 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Doniphan-Trumbull was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Saturday as they fell 42-38 to Lincoln Lutheran. While losing is never fun, the Cardinals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 38th, while the Warriors are ranked third).
Arcadia/Loup City will need to focus on slowing down Parker Volk, one of several Doniphan-Trumbull players who made an impact when they last played. He almost dropped a double-double with nine points and 12 boards. With that strong performance, Volk is now averaging an impressive 8 rebounds per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Poppe, who scored 12 points.
Doniphan-Trumbull's defeat dropped their record down to 14-6. As for Arcadia/Loup City, their loss dropped their record down to 7-14.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Arcadia/Loup City has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 25.5 boards per game. However, it's not like Doniphan-Trumbull struggles in that department as they've been averaging 26.6 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
