Basketball Recap: Milford Skates Past Covington with Ease

There's no place like home for Milford, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They simply couldn't be stopped on Tuesday as they easily beat the Covington Owls 74-16. The Bulldogs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matches by 31 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Milford to victory, but perhaps none more so than Amiya Smith, who dropped a triple-double on 11 points, 13 rebounds, and 12 assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaycee Rigsby, who posted 17 points and five steals.

Smith wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Milford was working as a unit and finished the game with 23 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Milford's win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-3. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 42.4 points. As for Covington, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Coincidentally, Milford and Covington will both be playing Bynum the next time they take the court. Milford will head out to face Bynum at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, while Covington will host them at 5:00 p.m. on January 14, 2025.
