Meanwhile, Clarksville's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fifth straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 78-56 walloping at the hands of Austin. While losing is never fun, Clarksville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 314th, while Austin is ranked 110th).
Despite the loss, Clarksville saw an underclassman step up: Jayonna Shirley dropped a double-double on 17 points and 16 rebounds. Those 17 points set a new season-high mark for her. Tiarra Lewis was another key contributor, scoring 17 points.
North Harrison has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost eight of their last ten matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season. As for Clarksville, they bumped their record down to 2-8 with that loss, which was their third straight at home.
Everything came up roses for North Harrison against Clarksville in their previous meeting back in January of 2021 as the squad secured a 63-24 victory. With North Harrison ahead 37-4 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
