Basketball Recap: Innovation Takes a Loss

Innovation extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to six on Monday, dropping them down to 0-5. They had to suffer through a 66-36 loss at the hands of the Lyman Greyhounds. On the bright side, the 36- point effort marked the Bulls' highest-scoring matchup to date.

Despite the defeat, Innovation had strong showings from Julieta Mahne, who posted four points, and Annie Roland, who had five points and 11 rebounds. Those points were Mahne's first of the season.

As for Lyman, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-4. The contest marked their most dominant win of the season so far.

Lyman was led to victory by Adrianna Stevens and Cordelia Velez. Stevens scored 12 points in addition to seven boards and five steals, while Velez shot 45% from the field en route to 13 points and five steals. Stevens is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least three every time she's taken the court this season. Charley Allen was another key player, putting up ten points.

Innovation didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 48-34 loss against Jones on the 9th. As for Lyman, they will head out to challenge Central Florida Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles' defense has only allowed 29.8 points per game this season, so the Greyhounds' offense will have their work cut out for them.
