Two dominant backs in Jayden "duke" Scott and Ahmad Gordon are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Stockbridge Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the Perry Panthers at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Stockbridge comes in on 12 and Perry on five.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Stockbridge had no problem doing just that on Friday. They strolled past the Cadets with points to spare, taking the game 45-31. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Scott continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 310 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.5 yards per carry. Scott is absolutely dominating the rushing touchdown category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the field this season. Cobey Thompkins also helped with three touchdowns in total.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Stockbridge's defensive line and their four sacks. In that department, Kam Reese was the leader with two sacks.
Starr's Mill typically have all the answers at home, but on Friday Perry proved too difficult a challenge. Perry managed a 28-24 victory over Starr's Mill.
Perry's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Colter Ginn led the charge by throwing for 382 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 12.3 yards per attempt. Dakarai Anderson also helped out as he racked up 166 receiving yards.
Stockbridge's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-2. As for Perry, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 12-2.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Tuesday's match: Stockbridge has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 302.6 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Perry struggles in that department as they've been averaging 191.8 per game. It's looking like Tuesday's contest might have some serious battles in the trenches.
