Grace Academy waltzed into their game on Saturday with eight straight wins but they left with nine. They came out on top against Founders Classical Academy by a score of 44-32. Given Grace Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 510th, while Founders Classical Academy is ranked 1154th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Grace Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Reagan Johnson out in front who scored 14 points along with nine rebounds and five assists. Johnson has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last six times she's played. Another player making a difference was Lyla Carleton, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Grace Academy's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-2. As for Founders Classical Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 10-10.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Grace Academy and St. Stephen's Episcopal will face off at 6:30 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully St. Stephen's Episcopal focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Saturday. As for Founders Classical Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Texas School for the Deaf at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
