The Moffat Cowboys struggled with assists on Saturday (the Sangre de Cristo Thunderbirds had 16 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Moffat was dealt a 58-22 defeat at the hands of Sangre de Cristo. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Moffat in their matchups with Sangre de Cristo: they've now lost five in a row.
Kadence McWilliams was Moffat's leading scorer, having posted nine points.
Sangre de Cristo got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Presley Wilson out in front who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Wilson has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Audrina Knorr was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 14 rebounds.
Moffat has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season. As for Sangre de Cristo, they pushed their record up to 12-4 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Moffat will take on Primero at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Sangre de Cristo, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Lake City at 5:00 p.m. Hopefully Sangre de Cristo focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Saturday.
