Having just played yesterday, the Stillman Valley Cardinals will get right back to it and host the Jefferson J-Hawks at 5:30 p.m. on January 24th. Stillman Valley knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five contests -- so hopefully Jefferson likes a good challenge.
In what's become a running theme this season, Stillman Valley gave their fans yet another huge win on Tuesday. They breezed by North Boone on the road to the tune of 60-26. Given Stillman Valley's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 74th, while North Boone is ranked 530th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jefferson suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Saturday. They were beaten by Guilford 59-31. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Jefferson has suffered against Guilford since January 21, 2020.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Tamara Blackmon, who scored six points. Another player making a difference was Nariyah Gary, who scored six points.
Stillman Valley's win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 21-4. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.0 points per game. As for Jefferson, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-14 record this season.
