MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - the Seahawks scored 20 points in the second quarter to secure a big 36-14 victory over
St. James (Murrells Inlet, S.C.) on Saturday.
Myrtle Beach scored three touchdowns on passing plays during the quarter, boosted by one reception by
Tysheke Vaughn.
After taking the lead on a
Brandon Sinclair touchdown run in the first quarter, MB led 34-0 at the half.
The Seahawks has struggled this season, allowing 34.1 points per game. But Myrtle Beach tightened up and held St. James below its season average of 19.7 points per game.
The victory was a step in the right direction for MB, which was coming off a 37-21 defeat at the hands of Socastee in its previous game. The loss was the fourth in a row for SJ.
Myrtle Beach (4-4) goes up against Georgetown in a AAA Region VII game matchup next week, while St. James (2-6) locks horns with North Myrtle Beach also in a AAA Region VII game.
